Every once in a while I get these days in the week where I wake up late and I get out the door late and it just starts my day off a bit wonky and the rest of the day kind of follows suit. Not saying a it is a horrible day just not a very productive day more of a blah day. Sometimes this funk lasts for a few days in a row.
I was reading my cousin Sarah's blog and enjoyed some advice she received from a friend at church:
"She said the morning sets the tone for her family. They always have breakfast together. In the morning they come together ready for the day. They read scriptures, have family prayer and eat breakfast together."
I want this for my family! Right now we don't consistently do this. Sometimes yes. On the weekends - yes. But everyday nope we don't do this. We all kind of wake up at different times and do our own things in the morning. Eh hem...for me it's facebook and email (ACK yep I admit it). For the kiddo it is to watch a tv show or play a bit in the playroom. For my husband it is to sleep in a bit longer, then he'll get ready for the day. I'll get in the shower after him and get ready for my day. I will either eat a bowl of cereal or something quick at the computer while surfing, or eat cereal at work when I get into the office.
We do frequently pray together in the mornings but again not consistently. We don't
Breakfast in our house will now be the most important meal of the day both physically but spiritually too!! I think we've all heard that having dinner together strengthens a family's bond and also is a great way to bring things back together at the end of the day. I agree but wow to me thinking of starting the day together setting the tone for all of our days in the Word and eating and sharing together to me is so much more important.
